SARASOTA BEACH GUIDE
Best Beaches Near SARASOTA
Siesta wins awards. South Lido wins me over. Let’s find yours.
START WITH THE FEELING
What do you want your beach day to feel like?
Sarasota has a lot of beautiful coastline, but these beaches do not give you the same day. Scan the six moods first. Then open the ones that sound like you and compare everything without losing your place.
PICK A VIBE. OPEN THE CARD. COMPARE WITHOUT JUMPING AROUND.
The beach that wins awards.
Siesta BeachWhy Siesta keeps winning people over.
Pretty water and room to wander.
South LidoSouth Lido gives you two completely different waterfront moods.
Beach now. Daiquiri later.
Lido BeachThe beach day that already knows you are getting a daiquiri later.
To disappear somewhere polished.
Longboat KeyQuiet is the amenity here.
Siesta Key without doing Siesta Beach.
Turtle BeachSame island. Much more laid-back day.
A beach day with a treasure hunt.
Caspersen BeachThe one where staring at the sand is part of the entertainment.
Six beaches. Six completely different Sarasota days.
And if you want my pick? I already have one.
SHOW ME BRI’S BEACH DAYIF YOU ASK ME…
This is my kind of Sarasota beach day.
Not the most famous beach. Not the busiest itinerary. Just the version of Sarasota I actually want when I have a whole day to spend however the hell I feel like.
Pretty water. Fewer people. I’m happy.
FIRST, I’M GOING SOUTH.
Give me South Lido and room to breathe.
South Lido is my favorite because it feels a little more tucked away. It can absolutely get busy, but it rarely gives me that giant-public-beach feeling where I’m wondering how my towel became part of somebody else’s family reunion.
I can park without turning the morning into a competitive sport, there are restrooms and picnic tables right there, and the park gives you somewhere to wander when lying on the sand starts feeling like work.
Walk through the trails and mangroves and you’ll find little pockets of shoreline tucked around the park. Or get on the water and kayak through the mangroves nearby. Or do absolutely nothing for three hours.
THEN THE BEACH DAY CHANGES OUTFITS.
Saltwater off. Cute clothes on.
This is where Lido gets extra points for me. Head back up the key, get changed, and now St. Armands is sitting there waiting for the second half of the day.
Dinner. A frozen drink at Daiquiri Deck. Sunset if the timing works. Then maybe live music, shopping, ice cream, another drink—or all four, because apparently we’re adults and nobody can stop us.
That’s my Sarasota. Beach first. Enough of a plan to keep the day going. Absolutely no need to overcomplicate it.
Beach, wander, kayak, disappear for awhile.
Shower. Change. Decide the day is nowhere near over.
Dinner, drinks, sunset, shopping, music, ice cream.
South Lido sounds great but Cirque isn’t your hotel?

Found your beach? Stay accordingly.
The right hotel should make the beach day easier, not turn it into a commute. Here’s where I’d stay depending on which version of Sarasota you’re building.

Stay on Siesta Key.
Sometimes “close to the beach” is still too far away.
If your trip starts with waking up, throwing on a swimsuit, and getting to the sand with as little effort as possible, Siesta Key is the easy answer.
Build the trip around the beach instead of commuting to it.
Still building the trip? Good. Keep going.
